Recovering From Surgery

After any procedure

We ask that all pets are monitored closely the night after a general anaesthetic. Where sutures or bandages have been placed the area needs to be kept clean and dry until everything has healed. Outside movement should be limited to prevent damage to the surgical site or bandage slippage.

Please ask for a detailed homecare handout if one has not been supplied for you.

Rehabilitation

If your pet has undergone an orthopaedic procedure Dr Chris will usually provide you with a week by week rehabilitation and physiotherapy plan. She is not a physiotherapist by training and we encourage you to also enlist the help of a physiotherapist, body worker or rehabilitation vet to obtain the best outcomes possible.

Bandage, Splint and Cast Care

Bandage care is extremely important as a bandage can help your pet, but can also lead to severe injury if not correctly managed.
