Speys
A spey is the procedure by which we surgically sterilise a female animal via the removal of the ovaries and uterus down to the cervix. When performed at an appropriate age, this can help prevent mammary cancers and will always help prevent pregnancy and reproductive tract infections. Castration
A castration is the procedure by which we surgically sterilise a male animal by removal of the testicles. This procedure helps to prevent a number of reproductive tract disorders including testicular cancer. Talk to your vet about choosing an appropriate age to castrate your dog. Dog Castrate <12kg

Retained Testicles - see below for estimates
If your pets testicles have not dropped into the scrotum appropriately then additional surgical exploration and pain relief is required. In these situations we will charge an additional $55 to 750 depending on the surgical time required.Scrotal Ablation (Dogs)
Consider removal of the scrotum at the time of castration if your dog has very large and pendulous testes. This will reduce swelling and bruising where there is a large empty space left behind, making his recovery more comfortable (and the back view more aesthetic)

Gelding is the procedure by which we surgically sterilise large male animals (castration). The testicles are removed under heavy sedation or general anaesthesia. Local anaesthesia is also used.
This procedure can be performed at the clinic or on farm.
